2. Eligibility Requirements

Completed primary and secondary schools either in or outside Korea

Overseas Koreans, Koreans with dual citizenship are not considered as international students.
    Home and Cyber schooled students are not eligible for admissions.


    Any international / overseas Korean students who do not meet the minimum requirements mentioned above for international
    admission need to apply for admission to HUFS through the Office of Admission(http://adms.hufs.ac.kr)



(2) Transfer Admission
For applicants who satisfy item ⑴ Freshman (first-year)Admission and the following:

  7. Official High School Transcript and Graduation Certificate (Notarized either in Korean or English)
  8. Official Transcript of academic records, and Certificate of Current Enrollment in a university or College Diploma
      * Notarized either in Korean or English, Transfer students only

  10. Copies of both parents' passports (or official documents indicating parents' nationality)
  11. Official document indicating parent-child relationship between the applicant and his / her parents
  12. Official Certificate of Proficiency in Korean Language
      * TOPIK level 3 or higher (Freshman applicants) / TOPIK level 4 or higher (Transfer applicants)
      * Certificate of Completion of Level 4 or higher from a Korean language institution in a Korean university
      * Students without Official Certificate of Proficiency in Korean Language will be taking Korean Progiciency test
         conducted by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.


(2) Supplemental
  1. Letter of Recommendation from your teacher/professor
  2. A copy of the applicant's Alien Registration Card
      * Current foreign residents in Korea only
  3. Official Certificate of proficiency in English
      * TOEFL iBT 80 (PBT 550) or IELTS 5.5  above
      * Applicants for International Studies must submit this certificate
        Those who apply to College of Global Business, English, Dept. of International Trade and Law, Korean
       Studies and International Sports & Leisurewithout any TOPIK score must submit it
  4. University Admission Exam Results (Gao Kao, SAT, etc.)
  5. Others (record of awards, certificate of qualification, document relating academic proficiency etc.)

5. Important Notes
  A. There is no fixed entrance quota for any Divisions and Departments except College of Education.
 
  B. Those who have passed equivalency exams for secondary education (e.g. GED in the United States
      and Canada or the Self-Learning Exam in China) are not eligible to matriculate.

  C. Students may apply to both campuses (Seoul Campus and Global Campus).
 
  D. If applicants are accepted by more than 2 universities, they must choose only one university.

  E. All information must be correctly entered. Any mistakes are applicant's responsibility. Mistakes may affect their  
     university admission. So applicants must check carefully if all provided information is correct.

  F. All documents should be submitted in Korean or English. And original documents in another language should be
     accompanied by a notarized English or Korean translation.

  G. Completed application packet must be in a sealed envelope, and submitted in person or by registered mail.

  H. If any documents are missing, application will not be considered.

  I. Application paper, fees, etc. will not be returned. Revisions are not allowed after submission.

  J. Application fees must be paid together with application. 

  K. Matriculation may be rescinded under the following conditions:
    - In case an applicant is discovered to have applied through illegal means such as submission of false or forged materials
    - In case any of the required documents are omitted.

  L. Applicants are required to provide correct contact information of the schools that they attended. The verification of
     academic records will be done on the basis of such contact information. If they are found to be incorrect, the applicants
     will bear all potential disadvantages.

  M. Applicants can be cordially requested to submit additional documents, aside from the required ones mentioned above,
     for the purpose of verification of school records.

  N. Apostille certificates or Embassy Certificates for diploma, transcript of academic records for high school and 
     university/college for all international students who have successfully gained admission to HUFS must be submitted
     to the office of International Student Services before the day of enrollment.
 

* The List of Countries for Apostille Certificates
The Apostille is a certification in French to certify the authenticity of the documents. Under the Hague convention, the member states have agreed to recognize public documents issued by other signatory countries if those public documents are authenticated by the attachment of an internationally recognized form of authentication known as an apostille. If candidates are not from the signatory states, they instead need to submit academic documents authenticated by consular legalization stamps. For Chinese students, they can obtain notarized academic documents at Confucian Institute in Seoul. For more information, please visit  http://www.cis.or.kr/. The notarization will be considered as valid as consular legalization.
